During the February Half Term, the English National Opera returned to Mulberry UTC to run a Youth Project with over 60 young people from across London, including students from all three Mulberry Schools Trust schools.

Over the course of three days, the young people created a performance in response to the ENO’s production of Bizet’s Carmen, writing original music and lyrics, creating staging and designing and making costumes and props.

The final piece was performed in front of an invited audience at the UTC theatre, and then again at the London Coliseum as a curtain raiser to Carmen itself, in front of an audience of 2000. This was a great opportunity not only for Mulberry students to be involved in a project of exceptional quality, but also for us to share the wonderful facilities at Mulberry UTC with young people from across the city.
