What will you learn
Y10 / Y11:
In year 10 and 11 we have chosen the Cambridge National Level 2 Enterprise and Marketing course to develop students’ entrepreneurial skills by providing opportunities to learn about real-life business settings, whilst also allowing students to gain a thorough understanding of the wider world of enterprise and marketing. The knowledge and skills developed through the study of this course will provide a strong basis for studying Business at Level 3 CTEC and could lead to careers in marketing and enterprise.
Students will be supported by teachers in pitching their business proposal, learning about the communication and leadership skills required to convince investors to back their business idea. Students will also develop their ability to critical examine the elements of enterprise and marketing that enable business success.
During this two-year course, students will learn about the key elements of creating a successful business proposal – from designing and developing a product to the market research and financial planning that supports a successful product idea.
Unit R067: Enterprise and marketing concepts (40% exam)
By completing this unit, learners will understand the main activities that will need to happen to support a start-up business and what the key factors are to consider when starting up a business and the characteristics of an entrepreneur.
Unit R068: Design a business proposal (30% coursework)
This unit will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to design a product proposal to meet a business challenge scenario. Year 12 and 13
CTEC L3 Business intent
In year 12 and 13 we have chosen to deliver the Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Business, which has allowed learning to be planned in order to support students directly with the dynamic world of business. This curriculum is tailored to provide learners with a deep understanding of how businesses operate in a real-world context, thereby equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in a professional setting. The emphasis of this curriculum is on a context-driven approach that delves into an exploration of businesses at local, national, and international levels, while integrating real-life business experiences. This ensures that students not only develop strong analytical and evaluative skills pertinent across various disciplines but also gain hands-on, practical knowledge, such as understanding the impact of economic factors like interest rates on businesses and consumers.
Our curriculum is sequenced to ensure key business areas such as marketing, finance, operations, and human resources are embedded so they can then apply these concepts to real-life business situations and professionals. By integrating current events, practical case studies, and hands-on activities, the curriculum not only keeps pace with the ever-evolving nature of the business world but also ensures that students are consistently engaged in practical problem-solving.
